Grant Custance

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

A workforce management industry leader with over 20 years’ of experience in WFM systems and solutions.

Prior to nimbus Cloud, Grant Custance founded Open Wave in 1998, where he served as CEO and later Chairman. Open Wave developed and distributed on premise staff WFM solutions, principally in the call centre market, servicing many high-profile government and publicly listed companies worldwide.

  • By 2002 Open Wave scheduled 80% of all Australian contact centre staff
  • By 2007 Open Wave scheduled 40% of all UK contact centre staff – major clients included; AGL Energy, AMP, Australian Government (as well as state governments), British National Health Service (NHS), BSkyB, Fairfax, Lloyds TSB, Malaysia Telecom, Qantas, Tabcorp Holdings and Vodafone to name but a few
  • Grant was the Chief Executive Officer of Open Wave for 13 years until it was acquired by a leading US technology company in 2011

As nimbus continues to grow, Grant is at the helm, steering the business to innovate at scale, lead go-to-market initiatives, and provide thought leadership, industry commentary and opinion to major publications.

Justin Gillett

Chief Financial Officer

Justin joins the nimbus leadership team with global finance experience in the technology industry and a focus on building a finance function that supports growth, informs decision-making, and fosters customer success. In his career, Justin has led teams in finance, sales, and services and played a key role in the transformation of businesses from start-up to scale-up and beyond.

His experience includes nine years at Humanforce where he was an early employee, working closely with sales and customer teams to grow and support the customer base, from start-up through Series A. After five years of managing the finance function in Australia, Justin moved to the UK where he grew and managed the local Humanforce team in London. More recently, Justin worked at a generative AI start-up through a period of significant change from bringing the product to market, to negotiating contracts with Hollywood studios and Fortune 500 companies.

As Chief Financial Officer, Justin will blend finance and strategy to support nimbus’ growth ambitions and work with the leadership team to drive strategic development. Away from spreadsheets and figures, Justin enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

Jon Baker

Chief Technology Officer

Jon Baker has in excess of 20 years’ experience designing and building cloud solutions globally, with a particular focus on building highly configurable, secure, and scalable Workforce Optimization solutions across EMEA, APAC and North America. Jon has successfully delivered WFO projects for countless multi-national organisations and blue-chip companies, as well as both the Australian and UK Governments.

Experienced in working across pre-sales, engineering, implementation and support, Jon has the broad technical and industry background required to lead our development group. Having previously had a background in systems integration, Jon has also been key to ensuring the nimbus product is readily integrable and has an array of standard connectors.

Jon has been instrumental in the building of both the nimbus suite of products and transforming business capabilities for improved outcomes – having oversight and involvement in each deployment across all customers and brings a wealth of experience of global workforce policies and practices which apply to various markets and verticals.

Sharon Burton

Chief Customer Officer

Sharon comes with over 14 years of experience in technology; implementing and managing software, infrastructure, and networks.

As an SME in Workforce Management software, products, and services for 10 years, Sharon has a vast and varying degree of knowledge across key WFM fields, including:

  • Award Interpretation
  • Systems Integration
  • Change Management
  • Best-practise and Solution Training

As the Chief Customer Officer at nimbus, Sharon leads our customer-facing teams, Project Delivery and Support & Customer Success, ensuring her teams have the skills and knowledge to provide exceptional service to our varying customer base, both here in Australia, and globally.

Sharon is a current MBA Candidate at Victoria University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration, ITIL 4 Foundations, PRINCE2 Foundations, and a Certificate in Information Technology (Project Management).

Harrison Custance

Executive Director

Harrison joined the nimbus board as a non-execute director in 2024, bringing with him a wealth of legal and transactional expertise.

Prior to his role at nimbus, Harrison built a distinguished career as a corporate lawyer, beginning at Gilbert + Tobin in Melbourne. Following his tenure at Gilbert + Tobin, Harrison moved to London, where he joined Proskauer LLP, a leading international law firm. At Proskauer, Harrison specialized in private equity, advising on transactions totalling over USD $10 billion in aggregate value. Proskauer is renowned globally for its expertise in private equity and alternative asset management, serving many of the world’s top investment firms. 

Harrison’s extensive experience structuring and executing large-scale deals equips him with a deep understanding of strategy, negotiation, and risk management. This background positions him as a valuable asset in a leadership role at nimbus, enabling him to guide the company through growth initiatives, strategic partnerships, and complex transactions.

Adam Bright

Chief Alliance Officer

Adam has spent the last two decades honing his expertise in Workforce Management and Project Deployments both for tier one clients within Australia and overseas. Initially starting as the Workforce Planning Manager at Foxtel between 1996 and 2000 during the company’s deployment into the Australian market, he then forged a 20 year Professional Services career with leading Workforce Management with senior roles at OpenWave, Noble Systems and now nimbus, as well as independent consulting works.

Previous direct clients that Adam has serviced include AMP, AAMI, IAG, as well as numerous overseas deployments such as Lloyds Bank, BSkyB and Telecom Malaysia to name but a few. He has undertaken overseas postings in both the UK and Asia as a first class WFM Project Lead, as well as deliver crucial educational training for the WFM teams.

Adam brings 10 years of senior management experience leading industry professionals for project rollouts and working with multiple solution vendors to achieve client project delivery goals. He is an integral member of the nimbus team and continues to play a crucial role in the business’ development.

John Ziegler

Chief Marketing Officer and Futurist

A staunch advocate of the role of marketing in business success, John Zeigler launched the world’s first integrated agency in 1986, making him an expert in the field at a time when everyone was taking the single-minded approach to communications. Having lived across three continents and worked on some of the world’s biggest and smallest brands, John is a great believer in reinvention and what that means for brands in this increasingly technology driven world. 

Before joining nimbus in 2019, John was Chairman and CEO of DDB Group Asia Pacific, India, Japan. His responsibilities spanned 33 agencies in 14 countries and more than 3,200 employees. Under his leadership in his prior role, DDB Group Asia Pacific was recognised consistently by their industry peers and received countless accolades. John himself was honoured to be awarded in 2013 for Global Marketer of the Year by the Academy of Marketing Science along with the Brand Leadership Award at the CMO Asia Awards. 

John has been integral in the rebrand of nimbus, developing the inter-connection between the three solutions for complete workforce optimisation, and has led the marketing vision to create products for the new technology world.

John McCarthy

Non-Executive Director

John McCarthy has over 30 years of experience in the private and public finance and investment in private and public corporations globally. Most recently John was Global Head and CIO of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority’s (“ADIA”) Infrastructure Investment group. ADIA is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds.

Previous to this, John ran Deutsche Bank’s Infrastructure Investment business from London. John has been responsible for the investment strategy, capital raising, investor relations and oversight of all acquisitions and dispositions at each of these institutions for the last 10 years and managed a capital base in excess of $20 billion during this period.

John is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Power Corporation and the Emirates Electricity and Water Corporation and previously held Board positions at Cellnex Telecom (Spain), Gatwick Airport (UK), Tank & Rast (Germany)and Renew Energy (India) amongst a number of others.

Mark Cullen

Non-Executive Director

Mark joins the nimbus Board after recently retiring from a distinguished 30-year career with Deutsche Bank and DWS Asset Management, most recently as CEO of DWS Americas & COO of DWS Group GmbH & Co.

Mark was previously the Global Head of Audit for Deutsche Bank from March 2015 to December 2018. He is currently working as a Senior Business Advisor to BlackRock in London and also acts as a non-executive Director of Oneview Healthcare, an innovative Patient Engagement and Clinical Workflow Solution that seamlessly integrates IT systems onto one high performance med-tech platform.

Mark is an experienced global executive with a demonstrated history of working in the finance industry across investment banking, asset management, fintech, audit, and compliance.

Mihir Sheth

Head of Cloud Development

Mihir brings 15 years of extensive experience in cloud and software development. In his role, Mihir leads and manages the DevOps and CloudOps teams, providing strategic direction and hands-on guidance to ensure the successful implementation of new technologies and processes. He has been an integral part of the nimbus tech team for over 8 years, focusing on delivering high-quality, optimised software that meets the needs of nimbus’s customers.

Mihir is passionate about automation, which not only benefits nimbus but also enhances the experience for our customers. He works closely with other department heads to streamline business processes and operations, ensuring that meaningful metrics are in place to understand workload and delivery status across the teams.

Committed to continuous improvement and staying ahead of the latest technologies, Mihir ensures that nimbus maintains its competitive advantage. By aligning and prioritising objectives, he ensures that business goals are delivered on time and within budget constraints. Mihir brings a solid background in Agile Software Development, DevOps Practices, Site Reliability Engineering, and Release Engineering.

Mihir has extensive experience in ERP Solutions, E-Commerce, Retail, and Workforce Management systems.

David Lilja

Company Secretary

David (B.Bus, MBA, CTA, MIPA) is a qualified accountant and experienced company secretary with over 25 years’ experience within the professional services industry working closely across a wide range of clients and industries.

David provides his services through his firm, DLK Advisory, which offers a breadth of support to its clients including outsourced CFO and Company Secretary services.
